Grandparent's Day and Community Days!!

Grandparent's Day was enjoyed by everyone last week! The boys and girls did a great job performing 3 songs for the grandparents and special friends. I think their favorite song was "Humpty Dumpty"! They were so cute and I know their grandparents were so proud. They enjoyed refreshments, had photos taken, went to the Book Fair, and visited in the classroom. Each student made hand prints and completed special booklets for the grandparents. They also created self portraits of what they look like "now" and what they think they'll look like as "grandparents".  All the kindergarten pictures were displayed in the front hallway for everyone to see. It was nice meeting everyone's grandparents!

Here are a few books read aloud last week:

What Grandmas Do Best/What Grandpas Do Best (also included in the book)

The students also performed a song, A Beautiful Day, with motions in the classroom. It's a song by Jack Hartmann and the kiddos love it!

Last week we also focused on Heroes and Patriotism for Patriot's Day (Sept. 11th). I read September 12th - We Knew Everything Would Be Alright and books about firefighters/policemen.

Each student also made American Flags which were displayed in our hallway for Grandparent's Day.

We had beautiful weather for Community Days over the weekend! Congratulations to Gage for winning the Little Mr. Community Days! Also thanks to Abbie and her family for working so hard. I am proud of both of them! They both rode in the parade. I saw a few of you while I worked at the CTA Funnel Cake booth Saturday afternoon with my husband. Thanks for coming by and saying "hello"!
